September Play Time

Our first September meet up will be on Thursday, September 3rd at SE Kelly and SE 36th.
Plan on arriving at 8 and staying til 10 or so. BYOB, snacks & something to DO!

Projects!

Last week's play time at the Casa del Fuego was productive, and thanks to Tall Pawl's handy new camera you get to see some of the results....
Beyond these, story writing, video, and knitting were all worked on, too.
This massive cat scratching post was made from a log, a board, rope, and staples. And hidden beneath the rope is cat nip tucked into holes. We are still waiting to see if the cat will learn to love it.
This artful mirror was made from an old mirror that was broken in moving. It's the pieces just as they fell, but arranged to lovely new effect.
After months of waiting, the paper mache mushroom top with its new matching stem has finally been filled with rock, wired together, and shellacked well enough to (hopefully) survive the elements in its rightful place out of doors, living in the protective shade of the grape arbor. Good luck little guy.

August Play Date

For a change of pace, our first August Play Date is happening at the Casa del Fuego this Thursday, the 13th. It's on SE 44th near Hawthorne. We are starting at 8. Let me know if you need an exact address. See you then!

Take 3

And, I quote "Tonight at Parallel Play a website was born."
In addition, a sculpture was in it's second stages, curtains were worked on some more, matting for photos was attempted, another hat was in process of becoming, paper letters were cut out for creating quotes from, shorts were patched, and various thoughts on various other projects were mulled.

The next play time is scheduled for Thursday, August 13th.

Parallel Play, Scene 2

Last week's play date was a nice intimate gathering in the newly coming-together basement space. Open collaboration and idea sharing went well around the big group table.
Lest we forget: a collage was started, a book was bound, a hat was knitted, curtains were thought out, an old-photo-diarama art piece was begun, and a just-out-of-the-box camera was fiddled with.
I can't wait to see these projects in their finished states.

The meeting will start right at 8 with Show and Tell... a brief discussion of people's plans, ideas, and goals for the evening.

The Parallel Play Space is coming together nicely. We have acquired a large cafeteria table with benches and a couple of old school desks for work space. Good lighting, easy access to electricity, and easy access to supplies are the main goals before the next Play Date. This space will continue to be a work-in-progress and all are welcome to contribute ideas for what works best.

First Date

The first Parallel Play Group get together happened last night.
People came and did!
Writing was organized, a blanket was knit, magic was practiced, and liquor was infused....
We are currently working on a better communal space for working "along with" each other,
and planning to get a collection of supplies set up for project doing.
Another Play Date will be announced soon! Check back for details.
